Sonia Espínola de la Llave, a Guadalajara, Jalisco native, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and an MBA specialized in Marketing. She is also a graduate of IPADE Business School’s Senior Management program. Since joining Jose Cuervo in 1997, Sonia has played a pivotal role in the company’s tourism initiatives, spearheading the launch of Mundo Cuervo in Tequila, Jalisco, in 2003. She earned the prestigious title of Master of Tequila from the University Autonomous of Guadalajara and the Regulatory Counselors of Tequila in 2009, becoming the first woman recognized as a Connoisseur of Tequila by the National Mexican Chamber of Tequila.

A founding member of the Mexican Academy of Tequila since 2000 and a member of the Mexican Academy of Tequila and Mezcal since 2005, Sonia has served as an official judge for the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles Spirits Selection for three consecutive years, participating in events in China, Chile, and Mexico. She is an active participant in conferences and professional tequila tastings across Mexico, the U.S., and Canada.

Currently the Operations Director of the Beckmann Foundation, Sonia leads social strategies focused on education, social innovation, and supporting the Tequila community. She also serves on the National Mexican Chamber of Tequila’s Social Responsibility Committee, further solidifying her impact in the industry and her community.
