The 2025 San Francisco International Wine Competition showcased an exceptional lineup of varietal rosés, culminating in Eberle’s 2024 Côtes-du-Robles Grenache Rosé earning the prestigious title of Best Varietal Rosé. Selected through rigorous blind judging, this Grenache rosé stood out for its harmony, complexity, and precision. Eberle’s winning wine exemplifies both varietal character and winemaking finesse, capturing the essence of Grenache in a beautifully composed expression.

Judges praised the wine’s balance and structure, noting its vibrant fruit character and polished finish.

Balanced and red fruit-driven with a long, persistent finish. Beautiful salmon color with balanced acidity and hints of strawberry. Aromatic on the nose with medium-plus complexity on the palate — nicely done.

The wine’s appealing salmon hue immediately draws the eye, while layers of strawberry and fresh red fruit unfold across a structured yet elegant palate. New Clairvaux Vineyard 2024 Poor Souls

This compelling rosé offered a more savory and layered profile. Judges noted aromas and flavors of red plum, cedar, cigar box, mint, and vanilla, creating a wine that balances fruit with subtle spice and herbal nuance. Its distinctive character and complexity secured its place among the top varietal rosés of the competition.

Aimée 2025

Elegant and expressive, Aimée 2025 charmed judges with its inviting presentation and fresh profile. Described as medium pink in color with earthy undertones, the wine features a lovely strawberry-driven nose and a pleasantly textured, chewy palate. Its vibrancy and aromatic appeal made it a memorable finalist.

The 2025 Best Varietal Rosé category reflects the continued evolution and quality of rosé winemaking. From the balanced precision of Eberle’s winning Grenache to the distinctive expressions presented by this year’s finalists, the competition highlighted both stylistic range and technical excellence.
