The Best Craft Distiller Whiskeys from the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition

Craft Whiskey

The craft whiskey movement continues to flourish, with small producers across the U.S. pushing boundaries and reviving traditional methods with a modern twist. At the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, the Craft Distiller Whiskey category showcased some of the most innovative and compelling spirits being made today—each from a small-scale producer deeply committed to quality and character.

Talnua Distillery Olde Saint’s Keep 2025 American Single Pot Still Whiskey

Talnua Distillery, based in Arvada, Colorado, is the first distillery in the United States dedicated to making single pot still whiskey, a style traditionally associated with Ireland. Blending old-world technique with new-world terroir, Talnua is defining a category of its own. Olde Saint’s Keep 2025 is an American Single Pot Still Whiskey made from a mash bill of malted and unmalted barley, triple-distilled and matured to showcase complexity, creaminess, and bold flavor.

Caramel corn, black pepper, and bright cherries lead the way, supported by warm vanilla and brown sugar. The creamy mouthfeel wraps around stone fruit notes for a whiskey that’s rich, balanced, and beautifully developed.
