The Latin America World Spirits Competition (LAWSC) is returning to Mexico for its second annual edition, reinforcing The Tasting Alliance’s commitment to spotlighting the depth and diversity of Latin American spirits. Produced by the organization behind some of the most respected judging platforms in the world—such as the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, New York World Spirits Competition, and Asia World Spirits Competition—LAWSC was created to give producers across the region a dedicated, high-profile stage to be evaluated against global standards of excellence.

The 2026 competition will take place March 25–26 at the newly opened Tequila Lab in Zapopan, Mexico. This state-of-the-art venue is dedicated to innovation, education, and celebration of Mexico’s iconic spirit, making it a natural home for the next chapter of LAWSC. The move underscores The Tasting Alliance’s long-term investment in Mexico and Latin America—not only as competition hosts, but as cultural and technical leaders shaping the future of spirits worldwide.

“Launching LAWSC last year was just the beginning. We were blown away by the caliber of spirits submitted and the enthusiasm from both producers and judges. Returning to Mexico in 2026 allows us to build on that momentum in a meaningful way by celebrating the artistry of Latin American producers where so many of these traditions were born and honoring Mexico’s heritage. We’re excited to keep growing this platform and bringing even more global attention to the region’s talent.”

Amanda Blue, President of The Tasting Alliance

Now entering its second year, LAWSC welcomes brands of every size, from internationally recognized houses to emerging local distillers. Categories span Tequila, Mezcal, Raicilla, Sotol, Bacanora, and more, reflecting the rich range of styles and traditions across Latin America. Each entry will be evaluated through The Tasting Alliance’s renowned blind judging process, led by an expert panel of industry professionals and cultural voices from across Latin America and the U.S., ensuring that winners represent both exceptional quality and authentic regional character.
