Below, four Double Gold medal winners from SFWSC that knocked our judge’s socks off.
Fusion Series #6 Kentucky Straight Bourbon
The Fusion Series celebrates the blending of newer and older bourbons to create something unique. The younger spirits are 100% Bardstown’s own product mellowed with hand- selected, supremely aged bourbon that beautifully complements their specific recipes. As the distillery grows, their bourbon ages — a difference you can taste with each Fusion release.
Fusion Series #6 utilizes two of their own Kentucky bourbons at 3 years of age, blended with 30% 7 year Kentucky bourbon for a taste of baked apples with toffee, walnut, and cinnamon. It is aromatic and balanced, with black pepper, brown sugar, and caramel notes.
Discovery Series #6 Straight Bourbon
The Discovery Series showcases the art of blending hand-selected, supremely aged bourbon. For each release, team members throughout the distillery taste, analyze, and vote on the best recipe. It is a celebration of their collaborative spirit, working together to create something unique and spectacular.
Discovery Series #6 includes bourbons from Kentucly, Tennessee, and Indiana, aged 7 to 17 years. Starting off with vanilla, cedar, and candied orange, the taste evolves into dark chocolate and black cherry for a complex and elegant whiskey with a lingering finish.
Ferrand Bourbon
This special bottle boasts a blend of 7- and 11-year old Kentucky bourbon aged in Maison Ferrand cognac barrels for 8 months to evoke the best of cognac, artfully balanced with premium Kentucky bourbon.
A floral bouquet is complemented by grilled peach, pecan, and chantilly cream that yields to a palate of baked apple and cinnamon spice.
Chateau de Laubade
Winner of 2021’s SFWSC Best Special Barrel-Finished Bourbon, this12-year-old Indiana bourbon is finished in Chateau de Laubade’s Armagnac barrels for 18 months.
